Y A M E N G  H U A N G, piano (C H I N A)

Yameng HuangYAMENG HUANG’s musicianship has been respected by professionals and audiences alike. A prizewinner of the 37th Maria Canals International Piano Competition in Barcelona, she has given recitals in venues such as the Beijing Concert Hall, the Poly Theatre in Beijing, the Casals Hall in Tokyo, the Ostrogski Castle in Warsaw, and the birthplace of Chopin in Zelazowa-wola, Poland, among others. As a chamber musician, Ms. Huang has performed with violinists Gerald Poulet and Siqing Lu, violist Donald McInnes, and cellist Jian Wang. Aside from performing the standard repertoire, she has also been recognized as a pioneer for new music. She has premiered many compositions of some of the most important Chinese composers such as Xiaogang Ye, Qigang Chen, and Xiaoting Gong. Ms. Huang has also been invited frequently to perform in various music festivals such as Imagine 2001 in Memphis, USA, the 3rd International Chopin Festival in Warsaw, Poland in 2001, the Music Festival Argerich’s Meeting Point in Beppu, Japan, and the Beijing Forbidden City Music Festival. Her performances have been shown on CCTV and CETV in China, and the NHK in Japan. Born to an artistic family in Kunming, China, Ms. Huang began piano studies at the age of five. In 1983, she continued her studies at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing for 15 years, under the tutelage of Professors Qifang Li, Yiming Pan, and Jianqin Fan. As a scholarship student of the German Academic Exchange Service, Ms. Huang studied with Professor Klaus Baessler in the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” in Berlin from 2003 to 2006. Ms. Huang currently teaches in the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing.
