Gila GoldsteinGILA GOLDSTEIN who is known as a versatile musician has captivated audiences around the world with her unique artistry and soulful interpretations. Her playing has often been described as profound, electrifying and sensual. Ms. Goldstein has performed as a Soloist and a Chamber musician throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Israel. Among her most notable engagements were performances at Merkin Concert Hall and Steinway Hall in New York City, the Purcell Room at the South Bank Center in London, Konzerthaus in Berlin, Old First Church in San Francisco, Penn Alps Concert Series in Maryland, University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Gardner Museum in Boston, the Myra Hess concert series and the Ravinia "Rising Stars" Series in Chicago, "Great Performances" series in St. Louis, Musée de Louvre in Paris, Pallacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, Henry Crown Hall in Jerusalem and the Tel Aviv Museum. Ms. Goldstein has also performed with the Boys Choir of Harlem at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall, Kennedy Center in Washington D.C, Chicago Symphony Hall, Toronto's Roy Thomson Hall and Tel-Aviv's Mann Auditorium, among others. A Board member of the American Liszt Society (ALS) and the Founder-President of its NY/NJ Chapter since 1992, Ms. Goldstein is a frequent guest performer at the ALS annual festivals and at the Great Romantics International Festival in Hamilton, Ontario. A champion of the music of Israel's leading composer Paul Ben-Haim (1897-1984) in the past decade, as a performer and recording artist, Ms. Goldstein has recorded two volumes of his works on the Centaur label Piano Works by Paul Ben-Haim (released in June 2001) and Ben-Haim, 2nd Volume: Piano and Chamber Works (released in November 2005). These recordings mark a significant addition to the few commercial releases of Israeli classical music, in particular piano music, and therefore meaningful for the understanding of this genre and for increasing its international recognition. It is also an important contribution to the discography of 20th century piano and chamber music literature in general. Ms. Goldstein is the Artistic Director of the Trail Mix Concert Series and Festival in West Shokan (Catskill Mountains), NY. She holds a Master of Music from the Manhattan School of Music where she studied with Mme. Nina Svetlanova and a Bachelor of Music from the Tel-Aviv University's Academy of Music, where her teacher was Professor Victor Derevianko.
